The Atheist Papers is a collection of essays and social commentary that takes a critical look at the role that religion plays in modern society. It is sometimes satirical but always critical.
Because atheism and religion dwell solely in the realm of philosophy, I must reluctantly add this caveat to my entire blog: Nothing said in the spirit of philosophy can be fact. Neither religious ideas nor secular ideas inhabit any space in reality; they are merely opinions, and this blog takes the position of one of those opinions.

About the author: Rayan Zehn
I’ve been atheist my entire life.
I consider Beirut my home.
I’m a political scientist with a research agenda that examines nuclear policy, Jacksonian sociopolitical belief structures in America, and incredibly risky sociopolitical behavior (revolutions, suicide attacks, coups, self-immolations, etc.). Additionally, I teach political science and play drums in a blues-rock band.
Mr Zehn. I again apologize if I’ve been rather rash in any way, but please understand that this is not in any way to be taken as a personal insult towards you, nor that of an attack, as this is just my own rant I suppose.
The one thing that I’ve often found throughout my life… Is to never trust those within a position of power. Because they never have the peoples interests at heart… Only that of their own.
And, Mr Zehn.
In spite of what you may think, I do very much care for you, and value your friendship.
No worries my friend. Although we disagree on some things, I enjoy your comments (the only reason I didn’t read them all was because I had 20 to read when I got home from work). At least you don’t believe in talking serpents!!
Thank you, Mr Zehn.
No one will agree on all topics, but at least we do agree for the most part.
I’ve rather enjoyed the conversations. Thanks again.
Nice blog you have here. I’ll be looking around it. Praise be the power of something or other that doesn’t exist.
Thanks! I’ll look around yours as well.
PS are Christians allowed around these parts? I love meeting and reading all kinds of blogs. Let me know 🙂
Of course. I usually check out the blogs of my followers. Interestingly, most of them run Christian blogs. I’d say at least half of my readers are Christian.
Ok cool, I’ll be sure to follow 🙂
You may hate me twice- I’m a Jewish Christian 🙂
Haha! I used to date an Israeli Jew. So it’s cool. What makes it even stranger is that I also used to live in Lebanon… y’know a country that has technically been at war with Israel for 30 years.
Too funny. My husband is an Israeli Jewish Christian so we’re all kinds of fun 🙂
I believe in nature so I am neither a believer or a non believer in God the creator. If there was a creator then who created the creator? A more powerful creator? and so on to infinity. I don’t even believe in the big bang creation and believe nature has been around for an infinity of time in the past and future. Yes, galaxies, stars, and planets undergo birth and death cycles but nature does not undergo birth and death nor does the universe go through birth and death cycles. My beliefs are even more unique than the atheists, most of whom are still really scientific creationists of one form or another.
Strangely I’m not into “Big Bang”s myself. (I think that the words ‘God’ and ‘Big Bang’ mean the same and are interchangeable.)
Indeed, either way it comes down to belief.
I just find it equally as hard to believe in an eternal Lord God Creator etc etc as it is to believe in all the matter of the entire universe being squashed down so very much it effectively no longer has volume—yet within that ageless timeless nothing something changes and triggers a colossal explosion?
I appreciate your website! I honestly upload them on my Instagram with your name on it. Thank you thank you thank you. Hopefully, reposting the bible contradictions will open the eyes of the brainwashed.
Keep up the good work Rayan. The Atheist Papers encourage met o reseach the Bible and the Quran much deeper and eventually answer any person who claims they know these contradictory texts 100%. If you check Libb Thims hmlopedia it seems that 95 % of the world ‘s population is ignorant in science and 95% of the world’s populaton is ignorant in religion.
